Marija Lesjak

PhD in Biochemistry

Marija obtained bachelor degree in 2007 and master degree in 2008, both in biochemistry, at the Faculty of Sciences University of Novi Sad. At the same University she finished PhD studies in biochemistry 2011. Since 2009, she is employed at the Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad, where she is currently an assistant professor. In addition to successful scientific carrier, for which she was acknowledged many times, Marija is actively involved in the science promotion through a series of activities. 2007 she was a finalist of competition for the best science communicator FemeLab, which is organized by British Council. Since 2008, in the scope of workshop "Cook with Marija and Sanja", together with her colleague Sanja Dožić, she is very successful in promoting science on the numerous "Science Festival" and "Researchers' Night" in Novi Sad, Belgrade and Podgorica. Couple of times workshop "Cook with Marija and Sanja" has been proclaimed by the audience as the most attractive. Furthermore, more then four years, within the program of Radio Television of Vojvodina Marija is participating in the implementation of school show "When it rings," in which significant place have mentioned workshop "Cook with Marija and Sanja". Marija is actively involved in promoting the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Environmental Protection, Faculty of Sciences University of Novi Sad, through a series of activities, from which Open day at the Department is most successful. Also, Marija is part of the organizing team of the Science Festival in Novi Sad.
